NUVAU CEO RETURNS TO ROCKS AND STOCKS NEWS
July 23, 2025: Nuvau Minerals CEO Peter van Alphen returned to Rocks and Stocks News to discuss what appears to be an exciting new orogenic gold discovery at the Company’s Matagami camp in Quebec. The discussion highlights how the team hit visible gold in a quartz vein on their first drill hole, 25 metres from an area historically mined for base metals.
Also explored is how this gold discovery perfectly sets up Nuvau’s broader strategy to restart copper-zinc production in this proven mining district. With assays pending and more drilling to come, this could mark the start of a major new gold discovery in Abitibi.

NUVAU’s NEW GOLD DISCOVERY IGNITES MATAGAMI CAMP REVIVAL
May 27 2025: Nuvau Minerals is reviving the former Glencore-owned Matagami mining camp in northern Abitibi with a $30 million exploration program that has already returned an exceptional anomaly of more than 2,000 visible-gold grains per 10 kg of material. The 1,250 km² property—host to 12 historic mines that produced 60 Mt of copper and zinc between 1963 and 2022—now offers two upsides: short-term critical-minerals feed for Glencore’s Valleyfield plant (on which Glencore will retain a 2 % NSR) and significant untapped gold potential in the same greenstone belt as Detour Lake. Existing road and rail infrastructure, a 3,000 t/d concentrator and the return of veteran geologist Gilles Roy position Matagami for a rapid restart and an aggressive exploration campaign.
