Boots on the Ground

Over the past few months, Nuvau Minerals has had the opportunity to take part in several major mining events, including:

  • Deswik Connect (Marbella)
  • Xplor (Montreal)
  • Québec Mines + Energy (Québec City)

Different contexts, but one constant: whenever we talk about mining, everyone faces similar challenges, and everyone has something valuable to share.

What We Presented:

In Montreal, our booth quickly turned into a small crossroads for discussion.
Students, consultants, former Matagami miners, engineers from across Québec, everyone arrived with a story, a question, or a piece of experience rooted in real field work.

In Québec City, our presentation offered a modern look at the Matagami mining camp:

  • How structures and volcanic environments control deposit location,
  • What the district’s long mining history still teaches us today,
  • And how existing infrastructure shapes the scenarios for the future.

No numbers, no confidential results, simply ideas, observations, and different ways to understand the camp within its broader context.

In Marbella at Deswik Connect, the conversations shifted toward the daily reality of operations:

  • How to make geology, operations, and planning work better together;
  • How to organize information to make faster, stronger decisions;
  • How to let teams spend less time “redrawing” and more time thinking.

Continuing to Share and Build Our Tools

Speaking with teams from here and abroad quickly shows that the big questions are universal:

  • How do we simplify what is complex?
  • How do we balance efficiency and safety?
  • How do we make our plans more robust?

Sometimes it’s a sentence heard in a hallway, or an idea shared over coffee, that sparks a new way of thinking about our own practices. These small sparks are often what move us forward.

Back in Matagami, the work continues, together with:

  • Our local partners,
  • Our international collaborators,
  • And our own teams on the ground.

Our objective remains simple: clearer tools, smoother communication, and a better understanding of our operations to prepare for the future.

That’s the spirit: learning, sharing, and building something stronger, one step at a time.
